When we were writing the ‘about us’ section of this site, Jenn mentioned my ‘thing’ was crazy pants and rings. I wouldn’t have ever thought of it, but in looking over pictures from this past week, I’d say she may be on to something!
Day one: Seydou pants, tank from Target, scarf from Numero Uno, sandals from Kadel-Dakar and beaded jewelry by Diami.
These scarves were on sale for 500cfa, so I bought tons. They’re huge, so can even be worn as a beach cover-up.
Day 2: Lunch date! Layered top, cuffed jeans.
Necklace by some guy on Gorée, circa 2003.
Shoes by Rama in St-Louis. She’ll be selling at the Spring Bazaar on May 18th and the SWAP on June 1st.
Day 3: No more dressing up to go to work for me!
This is now my usual ‘business attire’ since I work from home.
Day 4: My favorite little accessory! We were headed to a kid’s birthday party, so I wanted something comfortable, not too dressy, but not sloppy either.
Top from Holly Hand-Me-Downs (the best!), pants from fuggi jay for 500cfa ($1)
Ring from my father-in-law (he found the stone and had it set), sandals from the little girls’ department at Kohls for $7.
Day 5: Headed to church in pants made by Seydou Diallo from fabric my husband bought for me in Bamako. Top from Numero Uno.
Ring was a gift from my husband that he bought at Atmosphère in Almadies. (If you haven’t been yet, we should go!)
Day 6: Going out to do a little shopping and making the most of still being able to wear long pants/sleeves without dying from the heat.
Chambray top (goes with everything) from Numero Uno, pants from (I kid you not) a grocery store in Budapest, belt from Marie Faye in Thiès. These will be for sale (2,000cfa) at the SWAP on June 1st!
Bracelet was a ‘cadeau’ from a vendor at that little tourist market on la pointe de Almadies.
Day 7: One more pair of crazy pants! These are also Seydou pants, worn cuffed.
Necklace from my mom.
(And eyebrows by the Lebanese woman who does sugar waxing and threading!)
